James couldn’t wait to show Jasmine doll-house with the lights. He carried the cardboard house out of his workshop.
“Something’s missing!” James took a second look at the father-daughter‘s creation. Once again, ideas brewed in his mind.
“The first level looks cosy for a living room.” he contemplated. “But it’s a bit dark for Jasmine’s dolls to stay inside unless…” he pondered.
“Unless it’s dancing room!” He roared. “Yes! RGB LED will light the way!”
James u-turned into his workshop and started hustling at his idea.
He pulled out one of his old projects with a single Red-Green-Blue (RGB) LED in the ‘dancing room’. It was not bright enough.
“Three should be enough!” he thought.
So James began designing a mount than could hold three RGB LEDs that could light up the entire ‘dancing room’.
Just then, Jasmine awoke from her nap and strolled into James’ workshop.
“Daddy, is my doll-house ready?” she inquired.
James’ face lit with excitement, showing only her the upper floor.
“It.. It has lights?” Jasmine eyes open wild bewildered.
“Yes, my dear!” James said lovingly. “There will be more here! Colourful lights!” added James pointing to the lower deck.
James pointed to his OpenScad design on his screen.
“Wow!” Jasmine smiled sweetly. She had not comprehend fully her father’s engineering concept. “Well..” she continued. “I should start inviting my dolls for a dance party! Right, daddy?”
“You should!” James replied candidly. And Jasmine skipped her way out of the workshop.
“Upload and print!” The 3d object file was sent to the 3D printer and the machine began printing plastic filament layer by layer.
“While waiting for this to be done, let me get the circuitry up.” James turned on this electric solder iron and started soldering the components together.
He hated soldering. It’s hot and the smell of solder fumes choked him. Despite having a ventilation fan extracting the smoke at his workbench, the entire workshop still have a lingering burnt smell for at least a week!
“Achoo! Achoo!” James sneezed as he started soldering the wires to the LEDs’ leads. “Argh.. I hate soldering!” he grumbled trying to make the components stays in its place.
Back in her room, Jasmine took out her Friends character from the box full of Lego bricks.
“Hey, Stephanie!” said Jasmine, holding Mia in her hands. “Let’s have a party!” Come to my house tonight!”
“Sure!” replied Stephanie (still Jasmine), “I’ll ask the Emma along too!”
Jasmine giggled, as she listened to James sneezing uncontrollably in his workshop. “Achoo! Achoo! Achooooo…oo!”
“Poor daddy!” she thought. Jasmine went the kitchen an made a cup of hot ginger tea.
